Granny Seah revisiting Katong

When we say Katong, Granny Seah first thought was Katong Laksa! She remembers clearly the famous Katong Laksa store that is below the overhead bridge. As you have guessed, laksa is her favorite food. Mom ordered a medium sized bowl of laksa…I was shock coz it might be too much for her and we would be going for dessert later. However I was proven wrong as she gleefully slurp it down haha.

It could be two thumbs up if she is not
holding the spoon!

Where for dessert? An interesting looking cafe opposite the laksa shop called Rabbit Carrot Gun. (Later, I found out that they do offer accommodation! I would like to try a staycation here…never stayed in a historical shophouse before plus their rooms on their website looks appealing!)

Pretty place with a combination of rustic and retro feel. It's our first time visiting this place so not sure what to expect. First impression: cosy place to chill out. Love the fact that they retained the old mosaic flooring. Nostalgic ^^ Best, they have a real Christmas tree! When I told Granny Seah, she was impressed and happily posed with the tree.

Mama Goh & Granny Seah waiting for dessert and latte
Ordered for Granny Seah fig and honey ice cream and a cafe latte to share with mummy while I try their victoria sponge with a cup of piccolo latte. Though not too bad tasting, I still like victoria sponge with lighter cream rather than cream cheese. Totally enjoyed the piccolo latte which I will definitely return for more!

Granny Seah is happy with her ice cream. *thumbs up* I thought the honey taste could be stronger like use a more fragrant honey. Overall not too sweet. She did not like the latte as it is too bitter after the ice cream so mummy got big cup of latte by herself ^^.

I must comment, the service staff there are very patient and they will not hesitate to attend to you when you have a question or need their help to take a group photo. They happily do it for you. Love their attitude!

Granny Seah went to Tiong Bahru Bakery

Last week, took 1/2 day off and brought Granny Seah, mom and my nephew, Skye, (Yes! 4 generations!) to one of my favorite bakery - Tiong Bahru Bakery. My fav is their croissants. Slurp! I soooo wanna Granny Seah to try!

Granny Seah in TBB
Told you my grandmama is cool! haahhaha. I asked her to pose with my sunglasses which she happily put on! She likes the croissant plain, without the salted butter.

We waited awhile before our latte arrived. Her first reaction was, "Wa so nice" in Teochew when she saw the latte art. (I think the next time, I will bring her to the cafe with 3D latte art!)

I burst out laughing when I told Granny Seah to pose. She got into the mood and did this! So awesome! She was so sporting! haha.

She loves her "kopi" (coffee with milk in Teochew) semi sweet but I think the latte is too bitter so instead of her usual one, she added two sachets of sugar. Here is her verdict after the taste test.

The picture says it all!

Passed!!!

Why blog about my grandma?

Because I think grandparents are the coolest bunch! It has been in my heart to show that elderly are actually cool. My heart always have a warm fuzzy feeling when I see old folks walking together and still holding hands! Once, along Orchard Road, I saw an elderly lady holding a bouquet of flowers!
*Heart melt*

My grandparents are really a lovely couple…Grandpa Tan cooked the best dried chili prawns and he was the one who inspire me to eat chili padi! To make us laugh, he actually imitate "Yan can cook" way of talking while teaching us to cook! Unfortunately awesome Grandpa Tan passed on after battling cancer and lung infection…that was 15 years ago…

Me and Granny Seah on her birthday
Thank God for keeping Granny Seah long life and healthy. She is now in her 80's but she can still go shopping with us for the whole day! From time to time she will come by and stay over at my mom's place and we always look forward to that! From my work, I will take a little time off and bring her to tim sum or interesting cafes for meal. Although she prefers Chinese food, sweet granny will still let me bring her to more westernized places. I hope to introduce to her interesting or quaint places around Singapore and let her experience different flavors!

I pray that Granny Seah will live till a 120 with her strength not abated and her eyes not dim! She shall continue to be in great health all the days of her life! In Jesus' name! Amen!
